Scotland in 2050: Clean Energy – realising our potential, domestically and internationally

Scotland is a global market leader in the clean energy sector.  However, significant challenges lie ahead (both domestic and international) and it is incumbent upon all of us in the clean energy sector to ensure that we do not lose that advantage to other jurisdictions. This session is intended to explore the key themes about how we best address the challenges of:

1. Making Scotland as attractive a destination as possible for clean energy inward investment; and

2. Positioning our country as a global leader for clean energy and increase export of our technology, our expertise and our ability to develop projects from an idea into a vibrant and ever-developing market.

This session, sponsored and organised by Shepherd and Wedderburn, results from the Fraser of Allander Institute research project ‘Scotland in 2050: Realising our Global Potential” which they commissioned on their 250th anniversary – it is intended to help Scottish businesses, organisations and entrepreneurs best position themselves, and the Scottish economy, for the future. Join us to explore the challenges, the potential effects if we do nothing and hear about what some key players in our sector are doing to move the dial forward. We want your input because failure is not an option!

Chair: Clare Foster, Head of Clean Energy, Shepherd and Wedderburn LLP

Panellists include:

  • Professor Graeme Roy, Director of the Fraser of Allander Institute, University of Strathclyde
  • Dan Finch, Managing Director of Moray Offshore Renewables
  • Claire Mack, CEO, Scottish Renewables
