CPD

Continuing Professional Development

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is important for development of the individual and their organisation; and our research shows that it is worth checking with your professional body if attending All-Energy counts as CPD.

  • The IET for example suggests that you follow the trail through their Professional Development MyCommunity site www.theiet.org/pd-community to the CPD webpages www.theiet.org/cpd and also look at the new features in Career Manager www.theiet.org/career-manager, which encourage recording attendance at events such as All-Energy under the ‘Events and Seminars’ category of CPD recording. The key issue is that delegates should compile a record in CM which includes drafting a ‘reflection’ on their experience which in the learning world is what they believe consolidates the knowledge enhancement.
  • The Energy Institute states that exhibitions and seminars can contribute to a balanced programme of CPD, and also encourages members to reflect on their practice, and working and learning experiences.
  • The IMarEST (Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology) is of the opinion that exhibitions and seminars can contribute to a balanced programme of CPD. The IMarEST emphasises the need for members to reflect on their practice, and working and learning experiences.
