Wave and Tidal Industry Standards Workshop

News of a pre-event meeting taking place on 20 May…..

Grown-up industries have standards! The Wave and Tidal industry is keen to show investors, insurers, regulators and many other stakeholders how serious it is about growing up and being a highly responsible community. To this end, thirteen different standards are being drafted by the industry and academia under the leadership and facilitation of EMEC and with funding provision primarily by Scottish Government with a contribution for BERR.

There is to be a workshop (one of a series of 5 to date) to be held at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on the afternoon of Tuesday 20 May. That will be a working session in which groups will sit down and discuss the content of draft standards that are of most interest to them, for two two-hour timeslots. All are welcome to book for this by contacting Andrew Want at EMEC Andrew.Want@emec.org.uk and indicating the three standards that most interest you, in order of preference, from this list:

Wave Performance Testing
Tank Testing
Wave Resource Assessment
Project Development
Grid Interface
Design Basis
Reliability, Maintainability, & Survivability
Health and Safety

The latest drafts of all the documents which are available may be downloaded from the EMEC website  www.emec.org.uk

John Griffiths, Technical Director of EMEC will be updating All-Energy ’08 attendees on progress on standards during the course of the Wave and Tidal session on 22 May.
