There’s no disputing Europe’s pre-eminent position in the offshore wind sector, and the UK is up there at the very top of that European league. With the ever increasing development of offshore wind farms around the UK and Northern Europe, attention is now turning to the ongoing operation and maintenance of these installations, and how to ensure the blades keep turning as they move further offshore and into deeper water.

In order to provide a forum for this important topic, All-Energy 2012 will see the launch of ‘Offshore Maintenance 2012 – where offshore wind meets oil and gas’, a special area of the exhibition – fully supported in the conference – dedicated to the operation and maintenance business opportunities available throughout a typical wind farm life cycle of 26 years.

There are clearly natural synergies with the oil and gas industry in this arena with Aberdeen developing some of the very best offshore expertise over recent decades.  The Offshore Maintenance exhibition area is a inter-disciplinary meeting place, bringing together the key players in offshore maintenance from both wind and oil and gas to network with like-minded professionals dedicated to progressing the operation, safety, accessibility, design and testing of offshore wind processes and technology.

In addition to its ever-expanding list of renewable energy exhibitions and conferences around the globe, Reed Exhibitions is also the organiser of events such as Oceanology International, Offshore Europe (like All-Energy, held at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre), Brasil Offshore and Intelligent Energy, and will be inviting relevant speakers, visitors and exhibitors from these events to take full advantage of this new Offshore Maintenance development at All-Energy 2012.

“I am going to outline what I see as the potential for offshore wind to significantly benefit from the huge pool of UK oil and gas offshore expertise and then talk about the role we could play in developing the UK’s offshore wind resources”
