EMPLOYMENT

– 1991 The Union Bank of Scotland Ltd

(which later become the Bank of Scotland)

Employment was only broken by two years National Service.

1955/1957 National Service – RAF

  • Married to Sandra and had a family of two.

Later to know the joy of 4 grandchildren.

  • Retired from the Bank of Scotland after almost 20 years in management, mostly senior, in offices in various parts of Scotland.
    • Became self employed Business Consultant

1999–2007 Was appointed Inland Revenue Tax Commissioner (Scottish Office appointment)

  • Successfully contested local government by-election and was appointed Aberdeen City Council’s member for Newhills.
  • Following success in local government elections whilst contesting the Kingswells / Sheddocksley Ward, was appointed Lord Provost of the City of Aberdeen on 16 May.

 SPECIAL INTERESTS

Fascinated by “all things financial”, which led to serving as Convener of Grampian’s Pension Committee with a fund in excess of £1.5 billion.

Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland (MCIBS).

Elder of the Church of Scotland.

David Still has worked in the renewable energy sector for over 20 years, and has been instrumental in many of the early wind farms in the UK - both onshore and offshore. For 5 years until 2003 he was the Chairman of the British Wind Energy Association, leading the development of the offshore wind sector. From 2003 to 2005 he was the full time Renewables Advisor at the Department of Trade & Industry. He is currently the Managing Director of Clipper Windpower Europe and a member of the Renewables Advisory Board.

Jim Mather MSP, Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism

Jim has been an MSP since 2003 when he became one of the SNPs Regional MSPs for the Highlands and Islands, and was elected MSP for Argyll & Bute in the recent elections.  Prior to his Ministerial appointment he was Shadow Enterprise Minister and a member of the Scottish Parliament Finance Committee.

Jim was a Founding Director of the Scotland Funds, a charity aimed at improving the social, economic and cultural position of Scotland with help from ex-pat Scots.  He has also been a director of Scotland in Europe and Business for Scotland.

Before becoming an MSP Jim was a registered Chartered Accountant.  He was a manager at IBM Scotland Ltd, the Director of Computers for Business ( Scotland) Ltd and a Managing Director of Startech Partners.

He is married with two children and lives in Inverness-shire.

Ambassador Robert Holmes Tuttle

Robert Holmes Tuttle was sworn in as Ambassador to the Court of St. James's by Secretary of State Rice on 14 July 2005.

A businessman with extensive experience in the private sector, Mr. Tuttle was Co-Managing Partner of Tuttle-Click Automotive Group, one of the largest automobile dealer organizations in the United States. Mr. Tuttle has served on the boards of several prominent civic organizations, including the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Foundation, the University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communication, and the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art where he was Chairman from 2001 to 2004.

Mr. Tuttle began a second career in the public sector when he joined the White House staff in 1982 as Special Assistant to President Reagan. In 1985, President Reagan appointed him Director of Presidential Personnel, a position he held until the end of the Administration. By Presidential Appointment, Mr. Tuttle served on the Board of Directors of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars for four years.

A California native, Mr. Tuttle graduated from Stanford University and earned his M.B.A. at the University of Southern California. Mr. Tuttle is married to Maria Tuttle and has two daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Tuttle are collectors of modern and contemporary art.

Belinda Miller, Head of Service

(ECONOMIC & ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY) ABERDEEN CITY COUNCIL

Belinda Miller is the Head of Service for Economic & Environmental Sustainability at Aberdeen City Council. This service takes the strategic approach to ensuring quality of life – for Economic Development, Sustainable Development, Culture and Leisure. Current areas of work include climate change and the potential for renewable energy and technology, economic diversification and the development of a Regional Sports Facility.

Belinda previously worked for the Authority’s Chief Executive as the Sustainability Co-ordinator. Her focus has been on climate change alongside procurement, resource efficiency, waste management and corporate responsibility. She was the official Scottish Local Government delegate to the World Summit for Sustainable Development in 2001. Originally from Ireland, Belinda has lived in Scotland since 1991.
