2005 Conference Presentation
VISION, FOCUS, IMAGINATION ---- AND COMMITMENT
Rita Stephen, Head of Economic Development, Aberdeen City Council, will be addressing the All-Energy 2005 conference in the plenary session on Day Two.
"Vision, focus, imagination. They all have their place in economic development, but, at the end of the day, it often simply boils down to commitment - the ability to set achievable goals and then work steadily and unswervingly towards them.
Aberdeen is one city which can readily demonstrate its total commitment to the development of renewable energy.
As a recognised global energy capital, we already host the UK's premier renewables exhibition and conference. On top of this, we also have highly imaginative renewables projects in the pipeline which will firmly put us on the world map in this sector.
And, of course, we are working flat out on effecting the transfer of valuable oil and gas expertise into the fast-growing renewables markets.
Renewable energy, in fact, is one of the main cornerstones of Aberdeen's ambitious ten-year strategic initiative "Energising Aberdeen", which attracted major funding last year from the Scottish Executive.
So, at All-Energy 2005, 2006 and for many years to come, we aim to be the place where people come to do serious renewables business.
It really is all about commitment!"
