Biographies

STEPHEN KERR - specialises in renewable energy market analysis, modelling and supply chain analysis in the Renewable Energy and Oil & Gas sector. He is a Chartered Engineer with 16 years experience in renewable energy, offshore / onshore oil & gas and civil engineering and construction projects in the United Kingdom, Far East & Middle East. Stephen also has strong links with companies involved in waste management and recycling activities and is involved in product research & development on a part time basis.

WYNAND HOOGERBRUGGE

Dutch national
Bsc (hon) in geology from Trinity College, Dublin
Msc in Geotechnical Engineering, TU, Delft

Worked for 24 years with Schlumberger in various roles, covering operations, marketing and management. Joined Robert Gordon University, in the newly created role, as the Director of the Energy Centre on the 1st February 2005.

LIZ HODGE - joined SETPOINT Scotland North as TechFest Administrator on a part time basis in October 2002. She was appointed TechFest Director following the 2003 Festival and subsequently as Deputy Managing Director of SETPOINT Scotland North in November 2004.

Liz trained as a primary school teacher and taught for a number of years. Liz has also worked in the field of social housing and whilst away from 'paid employment' gained invaluable organisational and fund raising skills as a trustee and vice chairman of a local charity.

DR GARETH DAVIES - trained as a marine biologist at Heriot-Watt University and has worked as an environmental consultant for nearly 20 years. He has undertaken numerous research and commercial studies related to the marine environment including environmental assessments, risk assessments, contingency planning exercises, monitoring studies and training courses.

Initially concentrating on the oil and gas industry he has worked on projects in over 20 countries around the world, including a 3 year stint in the Caspian region. For most of the last 15 years he has been based in Orkney, where he has become deeply involved with the emerging renewables industry across a range of projects and technologies.

Over the last 2 years he has led teams completing renewable resource assessments for Orkney, Shetland and the Highland Region as well as a coastal wave resource study for the west coast of Scotland and Ireland. He has also participated in the development of regional renewable development strategies. He has a keen personal interest in the sea and a wide practical experience of different sea conditions and processes.

ANDY BODDICE - is a 47 year old, married, British citizen with two sons currently studying History at the University of St Andrews.

Originally from the Black Country, Andy spent most of his adult life living in Cambridgeshire and working in London. Head-hunted into Scotland in 1997 Andy now resides in North-Central Fife and works from Tayburn’s headquarters in Edinburgh.

A Palaeobotanist and Palynologist, Andy worked originally in Retail management in the Midlands and in London, before moving into the world of National Newspapers and Regional television. Between 1980 and 1997 Andy worked for Newsgroup Newspapers, part of the Rupert Murdoch Empire, (including the ground-breaking move to Wapping), Anglia Television and its Sales arm Television Sales and Marketing Services Limited, and finally for Express Newspapers.

Andy’s main operational areas and expertise have been in advertising sales, marketing, client relationship management, research and analysis. The move into a senior management role came in Scotland with Scottish Media Group ending in 2001 when he was made redundant as part of a major restructuring programme.

Andy joined Tayburn early in 2002 after a spell as an independent consultant working with a South African Knowledge Transfer organisation. At Tayburn Andy is responsible for Sales and Marketing including business development.

Extra curricular interest involve Andy in Walking, Dry Stone Walling, Archery, Botanical Art, watching Rugby Union (Andy is a qualified RFU Coach and Referee as well as a supporter of Leicester Tigers), and Cricket. He is also a Board member of Agenda: Social Responsibility in Scotland.
