Biographies
PAUL MCKELVIE - A training and development professional, Paul spent the early years of his career as a retail manager. In 1987, he was appointed to the role of Regional Training Officer with the Dixons Group.
In 1990 he joined SSEB as the Retail Division's Training Manager, where he had responsibility for the design and delivery of training to the division's 2,000 staff and played an important role in the culture change programme following privatisation.
Paul joined ScottishPower Learning in December 1996 and was promoted to the role of Regional Manager (Scotland) in June 1998. Paul took up his current post in December 1999. This role is part of ScottishPower’s Senior Manager Group (SMG), the company’s top 250 managers.
ScottishPower Learning demonstrates the company’s commitment to the personal development of its employees. The use of on-line learning has helped provide anytime/anywhere access to a wide range of learning programmes, through desktop, learning centre and home access. In addition ScottishPower Learning has delivered a range of community learning programmes which have to date helped train over 9,000 young unemployed people.

In 1997 Paul graduated from Stirling University with an Msc in Human Resource strategy. In his spare time, he enjoys playing in the local brass band.
MEGAN ARNOLD - is a business practitioner focussing on sustainability in industry. Current responsibilities as the Business Development Manager SLP Energy includes, the establishment of renewable energy related business, the development and management of renewable energy projects, research of power generation technologies and market evaluation. This includes, assessing opportunities in offshore and onshore wind projects and the promotion of an effective and successful supply chain for the East of England.
Megan is also a Director on the Board of the British Wind Energy Association with specific responsibilities for Supply Chain Issues, Conferences and Public Relations and a Director of Renewables East with responsibilities for offshore wind.
JO KNIGHT - was appointed Head of Research at Energy & Utility Skills when it was licensed by the Department for Education and Skills as the Sector Skills Council for the electricity, gas, waste management and water industries in December 2003. Prior to this, she was Water Research Manager at the Gas and Water Industries National Training Organisation (GWINTO), predecessor to Energy & Utility Skills. Jo joined GWINTO from H2GO (AWG Group), where she was Market Intelligence Manager, and previously spent seven years working in a range of roles at Anglian Water Services, including as Regional Account Manager for regulated business activities. A member of the Chartered Management Institute, and is a member of the Institution of Water Officers.
Jo is soon to commence a new appointment working jointly with Highlands & Islands Enterprise and Energy & Utility Skills as Strategy Development Manager – (Renewables) to address the skills requirements within this growing sector.
ROB POTTER - Placement student from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen where he is studying Business. At the end of September 2004 he took up a post in siGEN LTD for a year’s placement. Within the year he was set the task in an educational role within siGEN to produce a project and provide opportunities for today’s youth.
