Biographies

DAVID STILL - has worked in the renewable energy sector for over 20 years, and has been instrumental in many of the early wind farms in the UK – both onshore and offshore. For 5 years until 2003 he was the Chairman of the British Wind Energy Association. During the last 2 years he was the full time Renewables Advisor at the Department of Trade & Industry, a position which he continues part time. His main areas of work include transmission grid and the financing of offshore wind. He is currently the Managing Director of Clipper Windpower Europe and a member of the Renewables Advisory Board.

DR KEITH MACLEAN - Since completing graduate and postgraduate studies in Chemistry at Heriot-Watt and Hamburg Universities, Keith has worked in both Germany and Scotland. His roles in industry have combined interests in both the environment and business development. At SSE he has worked in electricity distribution, energy services and was responsible for starting-up and developing its telecoms business.

Most recently, he has spearheaded the programme for developing and consenting new transmission infrastructure to support renewables development. Keith was recently appointed Head of Sustainable Development and is a Director on the Boards of the Scottish Renewables Forum (SRF) and the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy (UKBCSE).

NICK GOODALL - has been Chief Executive of the Energy Networks Association (ENA) since its launch in October 2003. ENA represents all UK electricity and gas tansmissioin and distribution licence holders.

Between April 2003 and May 2004, he was also Chief Executive of ‘Renewables East’, the renewable energy agency for the East of England.

He was previously Chief Executive of the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) from April 1997 to March 2003. He held a number of related directorships during this period.

Prior to that he was Head of Corporate Communications at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Nick Goodall lives in London with his wife and their four children.

RICHARD FORD - is a chartered engineer with 20 years experience in the electricity industry and is an accomplished public speaker and communicator.  Having served his time in a variety of roles at the National Grid Company, Richard has since had spells as a consultant and also at Ofgem where he was responsible for electricity transmission policy.  Richard joined the BWEA in April 2004 as head of grid and technical affairs and has since established himself as an authority on the technical aspects of the wind industry.
